Central plans liquor ban during Xmas, New Year period

A 12-DAY liquor ban will be imposed in Central beginning Monday, according to acting provincial administrator Francis Koaba.
The Central Province Liquor Commission imposed the ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol during the Christmas and New Year period.
He said the people should be allowed to celebrate Christmas in a responsible manner. It ends on Jan 2.
Liquor outlets will be closed.
“Liquor outlet owners must take heed of the ban to avoid alcohol-related problems.
“Those who go against the law will be dealt with by the law enforcers accordingly.
“Police will be out to perform their normal duties. Central provincial administration officials will be keeping surveillance to ensure that liquor laws are complied with during the 12 days.”
