SCHOOLS in Central have suspended classes for the duration of the lockdown, similar to schools in the National Capital District, says provincial controller Francis Koaba.
He said it was in response to the recent hike in the Covid-19 cases in Port Moresby.
Koaba said checkpoints had also been set up at Bautama, 14-Mile, Porebada junction and Laloki.
Central Province Traffic Authority and Central police will check vehicles for registration, road worthiness and that occupants observe Covid-19 protocols.
Those travelling into NCD must always wear face masks.
Effective yesterday, all public vehicles from Central were barred from entering NCD if carrying passengers.
Only allowed through are essential service workers living in villages and store owners going to get new supplies.
Those travelling to NCD to sell garden produce and fish are reminded that the Aniani Corporation Ltd, the business arm of the Central government, will buy the produce from them.
