Central schools taking part in city competition

SCHOOLS from Central province are participating in the NCD Schools Rugby League Competition for the first time this year.
NCD Schools Rugby League chairman Joseph Dongari said this was because Central did not have an organised school competition yet.
“Having Central province schools travel into the city to take part is interesting and this will be happening until they have their own competition that is recognised by PNGRFL,” Dongari said.
“We have seen interest in secondary schools from Central like Iarowari, Red Scar and Laloki.
“Interested primary schools in Central can also contact us if they want to be part of the competition.
Meanwhile, the pre-season kicked off last week at the Sir Hubert Murray (oval 2) in Konedobu, Port Moresby.
“Last week we had NCD schools only but this weekend we expect schools from Central to come.”
The divisions for the pre-season are Under-14 boys, U16 boys, U16 girls and U18 boys and U18 girls.
The season starts in April and Dongari said he wanted all schools to complete payment of their affiliation fees of K100 per division and K30 per player registration.
NCD Schools Rugby League theme is: “Respect Myself, Respect Rugby League”.
