THE Central high and secondary school volleyball competition will host a district championship this weekend at Kwikila Secondary School starting today.
Competition president Nick Maino said the championship would see selected sides from schools in Rigo and Hiri districts.
Schools in the Rigo are Kwikila, Kemabolo and Hood Point and those in Hiri are Iarowari, Mt Diamond, Laloki and Redsscar.
“Each district has a selected 24-member squad for both men and women from the past seven normal rounds of the competition,” he said.
Maino said the championship tournament this weekend was only for the Under-21 division which would be like selection trials to select the best 12-member squad to represent Central schools in the National U21 volleyball championship next month. After completion of the normal rounds, Hood Point is leading the ladder in the men’s U21 division with 10 points.
Iarowari and Kwikila are on the second spot with eight points while Redscar and Laloki on third and fourth spots respectively.
