PAPUA New Guinea Women’s Business Resource Centre (WBRC) has assisted women to establish and strengthen their small to medium-scale businesses, according to country director Eli Webb.
Ten women attended a focus group discussion organised by the centre to see services offered.
Webb said the centre was a space for women of all backgrounds in PNG to fimnd resources for economic empowerment.
“We have identified the different groups of women who come in to access the services we provide,” she said.
“Therefore, we have created two focus groups and provide separate sessions for them: Lower literacy group and the higher literacy group.
“This is to ensure that everyone participates and no-one is intimidated to speak freely.
“The regular trainings offered are ‘motivational Mondays’ series for professional development and confidence building, ‘website Wednesdays’ series for website utilisation and digital marketing, ‘finance Fridays’ series for financial literacy, and ‘entrepreneurs master class’ series for developing a business model, value proposition, finance and marketing.
“The centre also provides childcare services so that women and children are not excluded from using the services.”
Participants shared their experiences on how they had benefitted from the services provided by the centre.
They talked about the growth of their SMEs and also identified areas that needed improvement.
