Centre sets quota for NSL

ONLY 1,403 spectators will be allowed to attend National Soccer League (NSL) matches at Port Moresby’s Papua New Guinea Football Stadium and 350 for Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
National Control Centre Niupela Pasin team leader Christopher Raymond Jr told The National on Wednesday that Deputy National Pandemic Response Controller Dr Daoni Esorom had approved for only 30 per cent of the seating capacity.
PNG Football Association competitions director Roosje Suwae said there were 3,421 seats at PNG Football Stadium with 2,018 now unavailable for use in accordance with the directive.
For the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, after marking the seats, only 350 are available for use from the total of 730.
Football fans in Port Moresby will be required to pay a gate fee of K20 for the grandstand and K10 for the outer stand while those in Lae will pay K20.
Meanwhile, the first round of the NSL will conclude next weekend following match-day seven before the competition goes into a two-week break before returning for round two from Sept 18.
The break will also see the opening of a transfer window. According to the association, a training camp for the national men’s train-on-squad will be held during the competition break from Sept 5-15.
The second round of the competition will kick-off with match-day eight which will also see EMTV’s live broadcast of Port Moresby fixtures.
