CHIEF executive of  the Popondetta General Hospital Dr Gunzee Gawin will be temporarily relocated to Daru Hospital, Health Minister Michael Malabag told Parliament yesterday.

He said the relocation would enable an investigation to be completed before a permanent CEO was appointed.

Malabag was responding to concerns raised by Sohe MP Delilah Gore on the investigation carried out by the Health Ministry on the removal of Gawin by a faction of hospital public servants and supporters in the province.

Gore had asked Malabag to clarify the status of the hospital CEO as the majority of hospital workers wanted Gawin to continue.

Gore said Gawin was the only obstetrician and gynaecology specialist in the province.

Malabag said the Health Ministry recognised Gawin as CEO but would relocate him to Daru temporarily.

He said former Port Moresby General Hospital CEO Sam Vegogo would assume the acting position during the investigation.
