Challenge referendum result

Letters

SINCE the referendum results for independence were declared by the Bougainville Referendum Commission a month ago, the citizens are very quiet.
This silence is led by the major constitutional offices and other important institutions and offices created under the constitution of the sovereign state.
I only wonder if such a reaction is an indication of affirmation or otherwise of the results.
The Bougainville issue is very important issue touching on domestic and international laws thus learnt citizens and relevant institutions including politicians should make their patriotic views for or against the referendum.
We can’t just be quiet as if the results are nothing but just arithmetic figures!
My answer is no!
If the Ombudsman Commission and the attorney-general does not challenge the outcome, than the next most appropriate person that should act now is the country’s Opposition leader Belden Namah.
Alternatively, ordinary members of parliament could also challenge the referendum’s outcome.
