Chamber: Follow measures

BUSINESS houses in Eastern Highlands will be required to follow measures put in place by the authorities to fight the rising Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in the province. Goroka chamber of commerce and industry president Chris Anders said: “Unfortunately, the province has been hit with a lot of Covid-19 cases and a curfew has been put in place. With reduced trading hours and numbers allowed in shops, this will impact the retail businesses.”
Meanwhile, Anders said businesses in Goroka had been fairly brisk over the last few months spurred on by the best coffee season for many years.
“We saw the price of coffee rise first from a frost in some areas in Brazil. This caused some damage to their coffee crop, then Brazil got hit with a dry spell which also seemed to lift the coffee price.”
