THE PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum has welcomed Prime Minister James Marape’s statement that successful mining and petroleum projects are crucial to national development.
Marape said it enhanced the Government’s vision of expanding the country’s economy and improving living standards.
He addressed the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry business breakfast at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.
According to a statement, the chamber agreed with Marape’s statement on the importance of multi-billion-dollar projects such as Papua LNG, PNG LNG expansion, P’nyang, Wafi-Golpu and the continuation of the Porgera gold mine.
Marape said those projects would “be our injection into the economy in the next 10 years” and would contribute to the solid economic growth he envisaged.
He said his Government’s focus for the next 10 years would be to grow the economy.
“The chamber supports the prime minister’s ambitious vision and reaffirms our full commitment to work with his Government to achieve this vision. It is important that we move forward in a partnership.”
