KUMUL Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) has launched its annual Charity Golf Challenge which will see four-person teams compete on Nov 11 at the Royal Port Moresby Gold Club.
The challenge launched on Friday, was a major annual fundraising event that was part of KPHL’s social investment programme.
KPHL executive general manager corporate affairs Luke Liria said the proceeds of the annual charity golf challenge would benefit not only the underprivileged, but children living with disabilities at out-of-home care centres.
“This charity event will be held within the margins of the international observance of universal children’s Day this year which calls for ‘A Better Future for Every Child’,” Liria said.
“We believe as Papua New Guinea’s national oil and gas company that our people are our greatest human resource, and our children, our greatest asset.
“And because they are our future, we want ‘A Better Future for Every Child’ here in Papua New Guinea; and more so for those that become homeless and are left vulnerable through no fault of their own.
“The proceeds from this charity event will go toward the support of a centre, or centres that is recognised by National Child and Family Services who administers the protection of children under the Lukautim Pikinini Act.”
“The care of children is a sensitive issue and we want to ensure that we do the right thing to ensure that the funds that are raised by this golf challenge is aligned with the responsible government entity that has a registry of out-of-care home centres that provide much needed care to vulnerable and underprivileged children.”
