Chef wants more done for tourism

AN international chef says the government should do more to expose Papua New Guinea tourism to the world.
The executive chef of the Stanley Hotel and Suites in Port Moresby, Darren Rerrall, said: “At the moment, you need visa processes to get into the country as a visitor.
“That is something (hindering tourism) because at the end of the day, for PNG, the more your tourism grows, the more jobs and opportunities you are going to have for your younger people.
“The more that transpires into the villages, there is huge potential.
“PNG is a country that is pretty diverse in its cultures, its nature and things like that.
“You have very much untouched nature.
“It is not just about Port Moresby.
“They (tourists) want to go out there. For the country to grow, you need to focus on those sorts of things, and drive the tourist market.”
The Government recently launched an online visa system for visitors.
