Chicken seller wants help for his birds

Goroka chicken seller Samson Kaupa wants proper chicken markets to boost interest in production.
Kaupa, who has been in the chicken business for the past three years, said farmers were struggling to find markets in Goroka.
He said that while the Government was now focused on economic growth through small and medium enterprises, markets must be created for chicken farmers.
“It is exciting to raise chickens, but when it comes to securing markets to sell, it is always difficult and competitive among other farmers,” Kaupa said.
“I call on relevant Government agencies, especially Agriculture and Livestock, and Trade Commerce and Industry departments, in collaboration with the provincial government, to secure permanent markets for us.”
