AN EARLY childhood teacher says children must know the value of money and trade in the society at an early age.
Head teacher Dorcas Lance, of the Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) school at the Lae showground said this during the literacy week observed by the school last week.
Lance said the literacy week’s theme focused on animals and they organised activities around the social life of a community.
On Monday, the school hosted a play market event where children used paper money to buy and sell goods.
She said exposing the children to the value of money, budgeting and trade was important for their learning.
Lance said the school had 87 students, most of whom were between five and six years of age.
