CHINA has opened its doors to Papua New Guinea’s coffee and cocoa exports, says Prime Minister James Marape.
“We also working on all other products.
“The Chinese leadership has also directed for Chinese enterprises to go into downstream processing,” he said.
“Our market is endless in China, and I flew into Guangzhou to meet the governor after my Beijing meetings with the president and the premier.
“This was for greater collaboration with these provinces of China whose gross domestic product is bigger than Russia, to put it into context.”
Marape said: “We now have three Chinese companies engaged in the downstream processing of agriculture, fisheries and forestry products.
“China has more than 100 tourists a year visiting the world including the Pacific, unfortunately we don’t get many.
“We want to direct Pacific passengers through Port Moresby as we bring in our own tourists from China, for PNG’s small-to-medium enterprises, and looking for markets in that province, which is the richest in China.”
