THE 13th China medical team to visit Papua New Guinea is “passionate and responsible for the health of the people” in the country, says team coordinator Zie Yujie.
“The Chinese medical team is always happy and willing to provide regular visits and treatment to PNG and look forward to another visit,” she said.
“We are eager to communicate and collaborate with our colleagues in PNG. We strive to promote the healthcare development in the country and enhance the medical technology level, while strengthening the friendship between the people of China and PNG.”
The team met 150 persons from Morobe inclusive education resource centre in Lae over the Easter weekend.
The team of doctors include a neurosurgeon, urologist, neonatologist, nephrologist, oncologist and hepatobiliary specialists. They also visited Goodman Fielders Leon Hardware factories in Lae to provide medical assistance.
Zie said the common problem identified in the factories were prolonged and excessive pain endured by the workers.
She also noted that malnutrition was common among the children examined.
The group was hosted by the Chinese community in Lae city as they delivered healthcare and medical specialist consultation.
They returned to Port Moresby on Tuesday.
