PNG Football Association president David Chung has been elevated to acting president of the Oceania Football Confederation following the suspension of incumbent Reynald Temarii.
Chung assumed the role as acting head of regional soccer body after FIFA suspended Temarii, who was one of the FIFA executive committee members at the centre of an alleged World Cup 2018 vote selling scandal.
Chung will hold the position until Nov 17 but may continue till January or until Temarri was cleared of any wrongdoing.
The PNGFA secretariat has also announced the training squad for next year’s Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia.
The squad was picked from the National Soccer League competition last year and will be reviewed as the new competition marches on.
The squad: Felix Bondaluk, Mathew Mende, Adrian Komu, Danny Banaba, Richard Lapan, Brett Seriba, Roland Bala, Cyril Muta, Raymond Gunemba, David Muta, Gure Gabina, Koriak Upaiga, Kema Jack, Erickson Komeng, Tonga Esira, Brian Tuhiana, Samuel Kini, Kelly Japu, Michael Foster, Daniel Joe, Bofeng Garambini, Ian Yanum, Simon Emmanuel, Jamaal Seeto, Francis Tulem, Anton Pipi, Pedro Ajakopa, Kohu Liam, Ila Ilaitia, Vanya Malagian, Tarscius Gringo, Fugre Eliude, Roland Warisan, Andrew Lepani, Nathaniel Lepani and Alex Davani.
The notable omissions from the squad are backline pillar and former PNG representative Trevor Ire, Neil Hans, Tau Winnie and Bruce Kusunan.
The Port Moresby-based players are reminded that there will be compulsory training every Wednesday starting today at 5pm at the Sir John Guise multi-purpose oval.
