AFTER 33 years of walking in the wilderness, a place of worship has been completed for the people of Gabsongkec village in Huon Gulf, local MP Ross Seymour says.
Seymour and Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu, along with representatives from the Evangelical Lutheran church of PNG, witnessed the opening of the village’s new church building on Sunday.
The church’s foundation was laid in 1987 but for various reasons, including cost, it was never completed.
Seymour said with the church completed, the challenge now was for the people to use it and further strengthen their faith.
“Thirty-three years of walking and the church has been finally completed and the challenge now is for you people to fill up the church,” he said. “All Christians and Papua New Guineans living in Gabsongkec, I think this is one big impact project for us and we have to fill it up.”
