THE Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG has grounded its two ships for two weeks following a directive from the Government.
Church secretary Bernard Kaisom said the ships – MV Ialibu and MV Momase – grounding would help restrict people movement in the next two weeks.
“We issued notice to our businesses like the Lutheran Shipping to call into port the two vessels – MV Ialibu and MV Momase,” Kaisom said.
“As of this morning (yesterday), both vessels fortunately are in port.
“The schedule is now on hold and we will use this period for little maintenance on the vessels.”
“We are issuing notices to all our institutions. Schools and health facilities are part of the Government and they are automatically closing down.
“Theological church institutions are also closing down.
“It will be late for the students to go home because all the transport services will be shutting down.
“They are all staying back in the schools, the schools are responsible to look after them.”
He said all Easter Camps were off.
