SO this is Christmas. Little Philomena Emmanuel, from Goilala, has been in hospital for the past nine months with a serious heart and lung condition.

Like many other young children and their parents and guardians, she will spend Christmas in hospital, and not just for those in Port Moresby but all over the country’s hospitals.

Sick children at the Port Moresby General Hospital had an early Christmas last Saturday with a truckload of presents from the PNG Methodist Church.

Congregation members from the church at 8-Mile, 25 in all, put a smile on the faces of the sick children with 160 individual gifts of food packs and other goodies.

The church members have been coming to the children’s wards at the hospital for the past five years.

After saying a word of prayer for healing the sick children and blessings for their guardians and family members, the doctors and nurses, the church members then shared gift packs among children in all three children’s wards at the hospital.
