United Church Highlands Region Bishop Rev Stanley Buka leading delegates to the church ground to open the two new buildings in Karinz Namo Circuit of Mendi-Munihu district, Southern Highlands, last Saturday.

A CHURCH building and a pastor’s house constructed in mid-2017 in the Mendi-Munihu district in Southern Highlands were completed and opened on Saturday.
More than 50 people were baptised the day before the opening ceremony and a feast was held at the church.
United Church education secretary Johnson Pisa said the Karinz Namo circuit was supported by church laymen who built the two buildings over the past three years.
He said the congregation of the church supported by Christians from other denominations stood united and did a tremendous job in supporting carpenters, clearing and backfilling the uneven ground.
United Church Highlands Region Bishop Rev Stanley Buka, who opened the two building in the presence of his staff and the community, commended the people for working together to build a house of God.
“The Karinz Namo circuit has seven churches, two evangelical and a minister station, a primary school and health facility which are being taken care of by workers and Christians,” he said.
“The church has a mission to bring people to Christ, guide their spiritual needs and take care of those in need.”
Karinz local level government president Simon Tolpe, who is a church member, said it was important that all churches continued to work together during difficult times. He said the LLG was once known for lawlessness but slowly social issues were minimised through the partnership work of churches and law enforcement agencies.
The United Church thanked laymen LLG president Tolpe, Peter Nupiri, Felix Soal, Stella Sondpi, William Nel, Henry Happen, Lyn Kipe, Jobson Timbol and Johnson Pisa for their support.
