GUTNIUS Lutheran Church of PNG has refused to accept some teachers posted to its schools in Enga.
It has also instructed its lawyers to pursue the matter.
The church said it did not want outside teachers to contradict the doctrines and beliefs of the church.
Church education secretary Johnny Andoi, who is also chairman of Lutheran education board, called on Enga teachers’ appointment committee to revoke appointments of certain teachers posted to its primary schools.
Andoi said their own recommended teachers should teach at the schools.
He said the two objectives of the church schools were to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and provide quality Christian education.
Andoi said in Enga, the church had 35 schools from primary to secondary and an international school.
He said that they also had about 100 elementary schools.
Andoi said the church education board was always very selective in choosing teachers with a good Christian background to teach in its schools.
He said that in the past, teachers recommended by the church were always endorsed by teachers’ appointment committee, which had not been the case over the last four years.
Andoi said the church was very concerned about the appointments of teachers from non-Christian backgrounds.
He said the church would not mind if teachers from other mainline churches come to their schools.
