NATIONAL Capital District acting city manager Ravu Frank has urged commuters and motorists in Port Moresby to take notice of physical barriers and traffic diversions signs at road construction sites.
Frank told a media conference that there were several work sites in the city under various contractors in preparation for November’s upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) leaders’ summit.
“There will also be new road constructions carried out, particularly at the Hohola Commercial Roads, Scratchely Roads and Apec protocol works which will be minor works to allow the leaders’ limo ro turn into their assigned hotels.
“I know this will definitely affect the flow of traffic during peak hours of the day but the roads are done for long-term benefits and we ask our motorists and commuters to be patient, cooperate and bear with us within the next three months,” Frank said.
He urged city residents to plan their daily and business activities ahead and to observe the physical barriers and signs put on at construction sites.
