THE race is on for the men’s and women’s cup, trophy and plate in the Corporate Touch Port Moresby grand final at the Murray Barracks Oval on Sunday.

In the open men’s cup playoff, defending champions Moni Plus will go against an improved Parapele oufit.

With this being Moni Plus’ second grand final appearance and Parrapele’s debut, the scene is set for a thriller as the competition’s big guns and little-known underdogs clash for the major honours.

Parapele beat MoniPlus in round 17 but lost in a return match in the preliminary finals.

Parapela has the services of elite PNG players Eugene Eka, Paul Kasisie, Wana Saia, Robinson Kasisie, Nanny Frank and Samuel Vetu, which should keep Moni Plus on its toes.

In the open women’s game, it will be a replay of last year’s grand final between Bank South Pacific and Moni Plus.

The bankers will defend their title for the sixth consecutive year without the service of star player Nathalie Kuper, who sustained a serious neck injury last Sunday.

Moni Plus will be after sweet revenge but must ensure they do not run out of steam.

Both teams have players with Pacific Games experience.
