LAE City are dominating the Golden Boot tally of the National Soccer League Northern Conference with winger Stahl Gubag and striker Jonathan Allen each on 10 goals.
City’s African forward Jibola Afonja has nine after round nine of the country’s premier football competition.
Coach Bob Morris said he was impressed with the trio who have been in fine form up front since the start of the season in July.
“Gubag, Allen and Afonja are in contention for the Golden Boot,” he told The National on Monday.
“But with the injury now, Gubag might miss two games.
“However, I’m confident that he will pick up from where he left off when he returns to the pitch.
“I am yet to get an injury report from our physiotherapist.”
Meanwhile, in the Southern Conference, Hekari United midfielder Nigel Dabinyaba is leading with 10 goals while Port Moresby Strikers winger Riggie Togubai and Gulf Komara forward Jordan Kaven each have four.
Hekari coach Erickson Komeng said Dabinyaba was still recovering from a hamstring injury he had sustained against Star Mountain in round eight.
“Dabinyaba didn’t play in the match against Tavur and I might not let him play this weekend,” he said.
“I will let him rest and recover for the finals.
“We will miss his quality finishing.
“It showed last weekend that our finishing lacked polish, but we managed to score one goal.
“He is a workaholic and a great finisher.
“Possibly, after our bye (in round 11), he should be fine to re-join us.”
