NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop says work on the major roads to be used during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Port Moresby are expected to be completed next month.
This includes the Poreporena Freeway, Wards Road to the Hilton Hotel, the Boulevard Lane from Waigani Drive to Parliament House.
“These are the main Apec routes which should be ready by next month,” Parkop said.
He said the Apec secretariat would provide 50 buses to the commission to facilitate the delegates’ transportation.
He said there also needed to be an efficient public transport system in the city which the government would have to subsidise. This is to avoid traffic congestion.
Parkop thanked the volunteers who are helping clean up the city
