PORT Moresby Softball League wants to review its by-laws on representative duties to allow the best players to represent the city at national championships.

President Tony Daple said that there were loopholes in the by-laws (32.2) which clearly showed that PMSL had no grounds on banning players from taking part for their respective clubs in finals.

He, however said, there was some form of rules stipulated for representing the Port Moresby teams and for future tournaments.

Daple made the comment after last week’s championship, where some Port Moresby-registered players went to play for other centres.

The PMSL chief said his executive would review the clause in the by-laws and address it to improve the next championships.

PNG Softall Federation president Ralph Tarasomo said players could play for their home provinces provided that they had not been selected for the local association they were registered under.

“The maximum number of players who can be selected outside the province is three,” Tarasomo said.

“However, it is advisable to consult with local associations and secure a proper release so that players can be allowed to represent another centre.”
