CJ joins parliamentary salaries committee

Chief Justice Sir Gibb Salika was yesterday sworn in as a member of the Parliamentary Salaries and Remuneration Committee (SRC) at the Government House by acting Governor-General Job Pomat.
He replaces former Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia. Sir Gibbs will be represented by nominee Justice Steven Kassman.
The other committee members are SRC chairman and Speaker Pomat, prime minister’s appointee Sir Puka Temu, opposition leader’s appointee Ian Ling stuckey, Department of Personnel Management Secretary Taies Sansan and the acting Secretary for the Department of Labour Ravu Vagi.
Richard Guria, acting senior SRC officer, said the Committee met when the chairman calls for a meeting to deliberate on any recommendations from the Department of Personnel Management.
The SRC determines recommendations regarding salaries of MPs, the judiciary and bureaucracy.
