THE people of the Zeaganchon clan in Nadzab, Wampar local level government (LLG) in Morobe have been told not to sell their land but venture into business by leasing.
Incorporated Lands Group (ILG) director and registrar Augustine Kapanombo, while handing the ILG certificate to the Zeaganchon clan on Friday, said the sale of land to other people may cost the future generation’s space to live on and cost them more to do other activities.
“As you people (Zeaganchon clan) receive your ILG certificate, you must learn to preserve your land for the future generation and not sell it to other people.
“When you put your land on lease to the developers, you will still have the power and rights over your land and you will get more tangible services instead of selling your land outright and becoming a stranger on your own land,” Kapanombo said.
Kapanombo said receiving the ILG certificate is the first process and the second important process is to work together and get an ILG title. “Receiving of ILG certificate and ILG title will make it easier to bring in investors to develop the land that brings economic benefits back to landowners,” he said.
Wampar local level government president Boara Guika clan to work together and get ILG title after handing them the certificate.
“The other important process now is to work together and get an ILG title and venture into business, identifying and developing any economic opportunities,” Guika said.
