Clear directives on OBE and SBC

Letters

TEACHERS in some parts of the country are teaching the curriculum without any proper directives or liaison with the curriculum standards office in Port Moresby.
The trend between Outcome-based Education (OBE) and Standard-based Education (SBE) contents to be covered stretched them out in terms of preparing their students to sit for examinations.
They are in doubt whether to phase out OBE completely or to incorporate both until an appropriate timing is given.
Some concerned students also raised their grievances to teachers about the contents they covered and that puts him/her in an awkward position to give them a definite answer.
However, last year’s Gr 10 examinations seemed to contain questions based on SBC contents.
This year, they are still in limbo because there were no clear directives or circular to tell them what to do.
It is now up to the responsible authority to step in and provide clear directives on how and when to teach SBC effectively.
