 DIGICEL says it is helping its smart phone customers to use data more cost effectively through its Smart Phone clinics.

Digicel’s commercial director Khatter Fehmi said using a smartphone was challenging for customers but with the establishment of the clinics, customers would be able to learn ways on how to save their data.

“In the past few months we have created Digicel Smartphone Clinics,” Fehmi

said.

“These are an extension of our retail stores, with smartphone experts available to provide helpful tips to customers – from understanding their own data usage, setting up email, buying data bundles to helping solve any issues you may have.

“We understand navigating a smartphone and monitoring data use can be challenging at times, which is why we are working to ensure customers are equipped with

the best tips and tricks for saving their data.”

Digicel’s top tips and tricks for saving data for smartphones include :

  • Turning off ‘push notifications – each notification received from emails, social media and GPS applications uses megabytes from a smartphone;
  • manually closing certain smart phone applications – applications such as GPS or video and audio streaming (YouTube) tend to use up a lot of data if not closed properly;
  • being aware of free smartphone applications – free applications often use up more data than the premium (paid) version as they generally have more advertisements that end up using data/credit; and,
  • Monitoring data usage on your smartphone.
