PAPUA New Guinea Under-20 women’s soccer coach Lisa Cole wants to give every opportunity to all members of its team to play while on South Korea tour.
Cole made these comment after her side went down to the Hanyang University Women’s side 6-1 on Sunday at the Paju National Football Stadium, Paju.
With their next game against Donggsan Information Industry High School on Wednesday, Cole said she would be looking to run different combinations as she works out her best side in the lead up to October’s Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup in Port Moresby.
The two-match tour which came off the back of a tri-nation series last month involving World Cup top seeds Japan and USA is part of Cole’s ongoing strategy to test her side on the international stage with internationals as well as games against quality opposition in the Asia-Pacific region.
South Korea are one of three Asian countries to have qualified for the World Cup in PNG.
The American said she wanted to give members of her squad who did not play and those that had limited game time a chance to experience football against another level of opposition. She said it was all part of the steep learning curve the PNG U20s had to go through as they get ready for the World Cup.
“It’s important that every player in this squad gains from the experience and continues to learn and improve their games,” Cole said.
