Colleges’ behaviour suspicious

Letters

THE stakeholders and citizens have, over time, raised numerous questions over State college funds are being managed and used by the school administrations.
It seemed college funds were no longer being audited.
As a result, it opens doors for misuse and mismanagement of college funds.
It is evident that some State institutions are bypassing and breaching the Public Finance Management Act. They do not care because they know no one will check their books.
Therefore, it is time that the relevant authorities must ensure audits are carried out in institutions annually. Get the office of the Auditor-General involved.
Some institutions also have only two signatories to the college bank accounts, breaching the necessary requirements.
Colleges will behave when they know audits will be carried out.
There is an urgent need for an audit of all State institutions, including colleges.
