Column 1

Awkward situation
Same political party, different camps. For example, National Alliance Party leader Patrick Pruaitch has been named by the Opposition as the alternative PM. Some of his party members are in the government camp. A bit awkward, don’t you think?
Crunch time
Talking about an awkward situation, Speaker Job Pomat resigned from the People’s National Congress Party when it joined the Opposition. If it comes to the crunch, where will he cast his vote?
So sorry
We sympathise with our leaders for having to go through all this fuss as families prepare for Xmas.
Power cuts
It seems the power supply disruptions at least in the capital city will never stop. We wrongly thought that the new boss would help improve things. Well, we can continue dreaming.
Covid-19 glare
From a reader: Just so you know, not everyone who coughs or sneezes has the Covid-19. Some of us have allergies and don’t appreciate that death glare from you.
Xmas cyclone
There is a Category Four tropical cyclone heading for Fiji named TC Yasa. Yasa in Fijian means a nomad. Hopefully it will not cause much damage to spoil Xmas.
Missing belt
A heavyweight boxing title match in Fiji last weekend ended up in a fight among officials when they could not find the belt to present to the winner.
Food for thought
When we judge others, we do not define them. We define ourselves. Remember, we’re always seeing the world through the glasses we wear because of who we are. The same is true for others. So, when others attack, try not to take it personally. It’s only the way they see us. This allows us to calmly consider what they’re saying so we can evaluate our actions, and if needed, apologise or move on.
