Fare increase
FUNNY how taxi and bus operators who have been crying for fare increases for years suddenly went quiet when the Eye Triple See announced an increase recently. Isn’t that what their tears had been all about? Perplexing!
New Year
THE Chinese New Year is almost upon us. If you have already broken your 2022 New Year resolution, you have a chance to do a reboot next week. Good luck.
Protected trees
THEY stick the “protected trees” metal tags to trees around our capital city, then after some time, for some reason, some of the trees disappear, apparently cut down. Does not make sense at all.
Balancing act
SOMEONE took a picture of this man in Mt Hagen balancing cartons of canned drinks on his head while doing his delivery round. Requires a special skill though.
Relief for Tonga
MANY Pacific island countries led by Australia and New Zealand have been sending relief supplies to the people of Tonga as they recover from the natural disaster which recently hit them. Hopefully PNG will join them, if it has not already done so, to at least acknowledge the vice-regal occupants of Government House.
Thought for today
THE unhappiest people in the world are those who care about what other people think.
Top quote
“EMPLOYMENT is an indicator of the health of the economy. If things are thriving, there is growth and businesses will invest (to create jobs).” – PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Ian Tarutia.
