Political moves
Some of the major political parties are holding annual conventions this week as the issuing of writs for this year’s national election draws near. The leader of one such major party is considering stepping down, we hear. Big deal if it happens.
Great boss
BSP employees will undoubtedly miss their marathon-runner boss when he leaves at the end of the year. This picture taken six years ago was when bank staff challenged him to a 10-kilometre race in Port Moresby. He ran all the 10km while his staff changed runners after every km. A marathon-runner in so many ways indeed.
Why now
Residents of the Wildlife suburb in Port Moresby are watching with interest – also with some apprehension because of the general election around the corner – the major road upgrading project being undertaken. They wonder: Why all of a sudden now? Governor Parkop and MP Kaupa may have the answers.
Thought for today
Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish them!
‘Top quote
“Our system of traditional norms and governance have not been meeting the needs of the people, instead creating deep frustration which could come in line with violence against women. The issue needs to be addressed in churches, schools, families and communities.” – Dame Meg Taylor.
