Vacant post
The post of managing director of the Kumul Mineral Holdings Limited is up for grabs. The incumbent and all qualified candidates are invited to apply. The board will decide. End of story.
Extended deadline
The deadline for the return of writs will be extended until the winners of the 118 seats have all been declared. It sure is setting a dangerous precedent, don’t you think?
Opposition bench
The People’s National Congress party MPs are resigned to occupying the Opposition benches, and have even named an Opposition Leader. The MP who formerly held that position has been strangely silent. Indeed, politics do make strange bedfellows.
Loyal subjects
Moresby North-East MP John Kaupa calls himself the “king of the settlements” on his campaign billboards. His subjects living in the settlements certainly remained loyal to him.
All paid
We no longer hear any more complaints of unpaid allowances from election workers. They must have been all paid well. Excellent!
Extra load
A notice in front of the toilets inside a shopping mall in Port Moresby says they are “closed for maintenance”. One can understand why. The toilets meant for shoppers only were frequented by people camped outside Sir John Guise Stadium for more than a week. The load must have been just too much to take.
Thursday game
The Broncos are up against the resurgent Storms on Thursday. Tighten your seat belts, folks.
Food for thought
One day you will look back and realise that you worried too much about things that don’t really matter.
Quote of the day
“Good governance, transparency and confidence in governance processes lie at the core of reviving confidence in PNG as an investment destination, whether for foreign or domestic investors. That includes open and predictable monetary policy and financial practices.” – Economist Paul Barker.
