Unenviable task
PM Marape is expected to name his full Cabinet tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how he tries to “please” his major coalition partners, and the independent MPs to keep his camp intact. An unenviable task indeed.
Wrong prediction
After the 60-something drubbing at the hands of the Storm on Friday night, the ardent Broncos fan who last week was predicting a huge win for his team at their Suncorp Stadium “fortress” is not talking much.
War cry
With the Rugby League World Cup weeks away, the PNG NRL should revisit the idea of introducing a “war cry” for the Kumuls, like what some nations have been doing before international test matches. There are options galore in this land of a thousand tribes. Let’s do it PNG.
Girl suitors
Mother was surprised by the number of young girls sending friend requests to her on FB. She thought at first they were friends of her daughter. Then it dawned on her that she recently put up as her profile picture a photo of her and her “top school athlete” son. They wanted to be friends with him, through her. She suddenly felt “old”.
Stay out
Property owners living near Mendi town in Southern Highlands used tree branches and stones to partially block a road on Friday, conveying a message to supporters of candidates involved in fierce fighting last week to stay out of their properties. The road leads to the Kumin Catholic Diocese headquarters, Kumin Community Health Worker Training Centre and Kumin Primary School.
Food for thought
It is easy to look at people and make a judgment about them. But you would be amazed at the pain and tears a single smile hides. So, never judge. Learn to respect and acknowledge the feeling of others.
Top quote
“We (PNG) will be 50 soon, yet our country is in a diabolical state. We have to work very hard to fix it. You do not have to be a (Cabinet) minister to build a better PNG. Your role as an MP, if used 200 per cent, can change our country.” – Prime Minister James Marape.
