No lights
Someone should ensure that the lights at the crossing at the busy highway outside the Ted Diro Primary School in Port Moresby used mostly by school children are working. We do not have to wait for o a child to get hit, even killed, before we fix those lights.
Another hike
Television customers were recently advised by the provider of a 5 per cent increase in prices from Oct 1 because of an “increase in programming and operational costs”. The advice adds: “It’s never easy to communicate a price increase but we are hopeful that you understand the reasons for this.” Yeah right.
Flag sale
If you are wondering whose provincial day celebration it is, just look at what flags are on sale. The young vendors know which provincial day is coming up and bring the unsold stock from last year.
National flag
Everyone is also reminded to fly only the national flag on Independence Day this month, especially if you are in Port Moresby. Governor Powes Parkop has always insisted on that and would love it if everyone complies. One nation, one flag.
Same name
A man named after his grandfather (now deceased) was advised by a bank recently to come and discuss whether he wanted to invest in a term deposit the money (which was quite substantial) in his account which has been inactive for a number of years. He is still thinking about how to respond.
Semi move
