Finals time
As predicted a week ago, the Rugby League World Cup quarterfinalists playing this weekend are: Australia v Lebanon on Saturday, England v PNG and New Zealand v Fiji on Sunday, followed by Tonga v Samoa on Monday. A feast indeed.
Best four
Four Pacific island teams – Tonga, Samoa, PNG and Fiji – are in the quarterfinals of the Rugby League World Cup. And at least one of them (Tonga or Samoa) is assured of a place in the semifinals. Wishing them all the best.
Hotel theft
Two robberies at their Manchester hotel in England are now as overawing as the World Cup quarter final against Australia for the Michael Cheika-coached Lebanon. They managed to catch the thief who took a laptop from one of the rooms.
Xmas cheer
Public servants are looking forward to a bigger Xmas with a larger than normal pay packet which because of the 3 per cent pay increment. They deserve it.
The 2023 budget will be tabled sometime this month. PNG and Fiji, according to the 2021 Open Budget Survey, are ranked among the worst countries in the world when it comes to public participation in the preparation of the national budgets.

ROUTE 15 bus drivers in PortMoresby are using this road side outside a secondary school to pick up and drop off passengers. Ladies who used to sell small goods there have relocated.
