Stuck in mud
People travelling in scores of vehicles to attend the Divine Word University graduation on Thursday got stuck on Onno Mountain due to the appalling condition of this section of the Ramu-Madang highway. Ironic too to see those words printed on the front of a truck: Hard Times!
Missing spark
It may be just the start of the season but a Melbourne Storm fan thinks that the “spark’ in the team has disappeared, that the “storm” has gone, so to speak.
Healing power
The recent decent, promising form of the Brisbane Broncos is contributing immensely to the speedy recovery of a loyal fan after hospitalisation. Broncos’ magic rubbing off perhaps.
Seeking attention
If politicians cannot privately address you, then understand that their public criticism is only for attention. Don’t take it as personal.
Power cuts
Government officials spend so much time, money and effort trying to convince foreign investors to come to our shores, yet cannot guarantee them that there will be no more power cuts – an ongoing challenge faced by existing businesses.
No money
From a reader: The costs of food continue to go up while consumers’ buying power has been adversely affected by the tough economic conditions.
True apology
A genuine apology has three parts: That you are sorry, that you admit it’s your fault, and you want to know how you can make up for your mistake. Many forget the last one.
Thought for today
No matter how many times a snake sheds its skin, it will always be a snake. So remember that before letting certain people back into your life.
Best quote
“All businesses face the same challenges raised by Lae Biscuit. We have discussed some of these challenges with the Government and look forward to working with them to develop PNG.” – Zenag Chicken general manger Stan Leahy.
