War chant
Team PNG’s war chant in tok pisin during the opening of the Pacific Games in Honiara on Sunday was a remix of Barike Band’s 1990 hit song Aiye Aiyo plus other songs, intended to represent the country’s “thousand tribes”, says Chef de Mission Faye-Zina Lalo.
Power supply
Just as we were getting used to again living in a capital city with a reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply, it went off around 8pm on Sunday. Probably the last one. But fingers crossed.
Worthy initiative
Teams of four golfers each, mostly sponsored by corporate bodies, will be battling for the Sir Michael Somare Shield on Friday at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club to raise funds for Junior Golf. A worthy cause indeed.
Deep holes
Some of the potholes around our capital city – the back-roads are littered with them – have potholes so deep they instantly turn into mini swimming pools when it rains.
Seventh sense
True or false? A woman can sense that another woman likes her man.
The reality
This is the real situation in some organisations – and it does not commensurate with the pay.
Funny looks
Colleague was wondering while walking along a busy road why people were giving him funny looks as if he was not in his right mind. It was pointed out to him a little while later by a kind soul that his fly was open. Dang!
Food for thought
Don’t just intend, take action! Even an inch of progress gets you closer to your goals than a mile of mere intentions.
Top quote
