Anti-climax
A bit of an anti-climax really, that after all the hype and excitement about the reopening after four years of the multi-billion Porgera gold mine last Friday, the “big wigs” were nowhere to be seen at the mine. Crikey!
Economic boost
Just the much-needed boost the economy has been craving for from the multi-billion Kina projects. Porgera has come alive again and talks on Wafi-Golpu are resuming. There is more optimism now for 2024.
Good story
A feature story published on this page yesterday told of how a group of parents have been focusing their attention on their children’s education next year during the festive season instead of partaking in merry-making and partying. A great lesson for all.
Air fares
Something needs to be done about making air fares on domestic routes more affordable for ordinary citizens. A franchise scheme perhaps?
Fed up
Note from a frustrated family members to a relative: “If you end this year single again, we are posting on the Facebook marketplace!”
Family matter
Panthers star Jarome Luai had been all-over-the-place lately as regards his NRL future. Now we know it was for an off-the-field reason. On Christmas Day, he popped the question to his long-time girlfriend Bailey Paris. They already have three children.
Food for thought
If money and material things make you believe that you are better than others, you are the poorest person on earth!
Top quote
“All these mining and LNG projects can move the country forward but the only problem is that they won’t create a lot of jobs. Our country (also) has been facing a lot of issues such as the high prices of goods and services, major forex issues and so on.” – International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru.
