Deaf and blind
Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika recently reminded everyone, in particular law enforcement authorities, that betel-nut selling in Port Moresby is illegal. Yes, ILLEGAL. Yet, no one has acted on his cue. Perhaps everyone is playing deaf and blind?
Game history
Knowing their history against the Eels, NRL premier champions Panthers can expect a second 2024 defeat tomorrow at their home ground, the BlueBet Stadium. You want to bet?
Light traffic
Traffic during the “rush hour” from Nine-Mile to Erima in Port Moresby yesterday morning was relatively light. No queues. Someone suggested that it could have something to do with yesterday being a company pay day. How is that?
A bridge no more
You are ready to go to school or work only to find out that the bridge you and everyone else have been using for years to cross a river has disappeared. It was the situation yesterday morning at the banks of the Asaro River in Lapegu, Goroka, after the Matherson bridge was washed away during the heavy rain on Tuesday night.
TV off
It now happens each time there is downpour – the television screen goes blank, the channels disappear. We do not pay monthly fees to watch blank screens (put exclamation mark here).
Food for thought
A boss knows everything, a leader admits mistakes. A boss tells people what to do, a leader show them how to do things. A boss criticizes, a leader offers advice. A boss demands respect, a leader earns respect. A boss gives orders, a leader gives directions. So be a leader.
Top quote
“The PNG economy is not a tucker-box. A competent Treasurer must provide the country with an economic solution that will create 100,000 jobs, bring the price of food down and increase the foreign exchange ceiling to US$1 billion (about K3.8 billion) a month.”
– Deputy Opposition Leader James Nomane.
