Not fooled
Someone posted on Monday that the South African Springboks had been stripped of their 2023 World Cup victory. A footnote at the end read: “This is an April the Fool’s Day joke. If you are offended in any way, we suggest you head down to the shop, pick up a sense of humour, come back and read the article again.” Okay!
New-look Tigers
Punters are this year are taking a totally different view of the new-look West Tigers outfit. No longer contenders for the wooden-spoon, right?
Direct flight
Qantas has started a Port Moresby-Sydney direct flight service, the first in more than 50 years. So convenient for many travelling to the Land Down Under.
In-flight entertainment
The national airline should use only its B737 jets or bigger aircraft on international flights as they have in-flight entertainment. The Fokker-100 does not have it, and it’s boring for passengers having to sit in the cabin for three hours staring at the seat in front of them.
Cocoa prices
The global price of cocoa has sky-rocketed almost overnight, bringing big smiles to those who stuck with cocoa farming despite the impact of the pod-borer and the fluctuating prices over the years.
Helping ESP
Great to see the PM joining the alternative PM in helping the people of East Sepik affected by the recent natural disasters. People first, politics last, for once.
Easter weekend
Good to see people behaving themselves during the long Easter weekend, although it is safe to say that not everyone made the effort to go to church on Friday and Sunday.
Food for thought
When things feel overwhelming, remember: One thought at a time, one task at a time, and one day at a time.
Top quote
“We used to sell a bag of dry cocoa beans for between K500 and K600. But this year, the price has doubled. A bag now brings more than K1,500.” – Cocoa farmer Julius Bini of Asawasia village, Markham, Morobe.
