More blackouts
Yesterday, the issuing of writs for the Sohe and Maprik by-elections at Government House had to be delayed by about two hours because of – yes, you guessed it – a blackout. Nothing surprising anymore about our power supply, eh?
False promise
Yes, and we were all assured after the 54mw Edevu hydro-power plan came on line last October that power cuts in Port Moresby would be “a thing of the past”. We have been misled yet again.
Team switch
The exodus of top players from the Panthers to the West Tigers continues, with star five-eighth Jarome Luai (top) to be followed by winger Sunia Turuva (left) to Western Sydney next season. Panthers’ loss, Tigers’ gain.
Unfazed fan
Ardent Broncos’ fan is unfazed – the absence of star players Ezra Mam and Selwyn Cobbo will not affect their chances against Justin Olam and the West Tigers on Saturday. We have depth, he claims.
Sad reality
Of course we all salute the hard work and sacrifices by the hundreds of students graduating this week from university but cannot help but feel pity for those who will not be able to find jobs. That’s the sad reality in PNG today.
Wife’s car
A man who allegedly sold his wife’s car for K10,000 without her consent said it was to pay off her debts. Well, the court will decide on that.
Thought for today
Ask any person who grew up with only one or none of their parents and they will tell you how tough it is, and the immense impact it has had on their lives.
Good quote
“Seeking a new loan of nearly one billion Kina, the former Treasurer Ling-Stuckey, has signed our country up to more debt and increasing controls by the IMF.” – Former PM Peter O’Neill.
