WHY do drivers speed and zigzag between cars. No matter how skillful a driver you may be, the laws of physics do not change – the faster you drive the harder you hit. Speeding is easy but stopping is not.

IT is high time also that road authorities again emphasis what the speed limit is within the city and outside. The posted speed limit is supposed to be the maximum recommended speed for ideal conditions, that is, dry road, good visibility etc. Remember, it is not a target speed that you must reach.

ONCE boasting a population of nearly 10,000 during a mining boom in the late 1800s, Bodie, California, is now an authentic Wild West ghost town. Visitors can walk the deserted streets to see the remnants of a town whose mines produced more than $34 million worth of gold. That success brought to Bodie the amenities of larger towns, including a railroad, banks, a brass band and a jail.

FRENCHMAN Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec City as a trading post at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and St. Charles rivers. From this and subsequent settlements Catholic missionaries, explorers, and fur traders pushed across N America. Begun with just 32 colonists, the city is now home to about 500,000. Most residents are of French descent, despite the fact that the area was ceded to the British in 1763.

NOT only is the Fourth of July celebrated in the United States of America. The Fourth of July celebration is also held in Aalborg, Denmark, each year since 1912. It was started by Dr Max Henius of Chicago. He bought 200 acres of land in Rebild and deeded the land to King Christian X, with the stipulation that his fellow Danish Americans be allowed to celebrate the Fourth of July there every year. The area is now a national park, and about 35,000 people come to observe America’s Independence Day. A replica of the Liberty Bell is rung and the national anthems of both countries are sung.
