Commanders attending workshop focusing on Pacific leadership

Selected police commanders (PPCs) from 16 provinces are attending a two-week leadership and middle management workshop in East New Britain (ENB).
PNG-Australia policing partnership adviser Supt Phil Brown said the workshop is the initiative of police of the two countries.
He said the workshop would be focusing on Pacific leadership, especially for the senior officers.
Brown said the United Kingdom (UK) College of Policing is facilitating in the workshop.
He said the programme was the third for 2020, with further programmes planned for June.
The workshop aims to develop the leadership and management skills of senior police managers in the Pacific region.
“It will also provide opportunities for learning, leading to meaningful professional and organisational improvement.
“The programme is intended to develop management and leadership skills in two parts,” Brown said.
They were developing personal leadership and self-awareness, as well as making participants more effective strategic leaders within their organisations.
“It is a live-in course, aimed to promote active after-hours discussion about leadership.”
