Commanders put on notice

EASTERN Highlands police commander Supt David Seine Jr has warned all rural station commanders to prevent the misuse of police vehicles.
“Any abuse of new vehicles by police in rural districts, I will get the rural commander in the province, Chief Insp Andrew Wawia, to take responsibility,” Supt Seine said.
“The Police Department does not have enough resources to buy new vehicles.
“When local Members of Parliament and their district development authorities are generous to buy vehicles for the police, we should use them to deliver police services to the concerned districts and not misuse them,” he said.
He made this known when receiving a new 10-seater vehicle from the Okapa district development authority (ODDA) at the Goroka police station yesterday.
“I will always make sure the vehicles are used for the intended purpose.
“I expect all the rural based policemen and women to work with their respective rural police station commanders who then report to the rural commander for the province,” he said.
Supt Seine thanked Okapa MP and ODDA chief executive officer James Sipa for the new vehicle.
He said police service should reach every corner of Okapa and assured more police personnel would join once they passed out from Bomana. He said for any district to develop, the law and order situation should be stable and under control. Police are there to make sure there is peace and harmony. Sipa said it was very important for districts to partner police to ensure peace and harmony.
