Comments on violence, crimes worry Sir Bob

GOVERNOR-General Sir Bob Dadae says it is concerning to read in the daily newspapers and social media about violence and crime, but more so, the negative and derogatory comments in support of, and inciting violent crimes.
Sir Bob raised the concern during a Remembrance Day parade in Port Moresby on Saturday.
“Is this how we honour the very freedom our forefathers sacrificed their lives for?” he said.
“My appeal for all of us, young and old, is to change our course in life to one that observes, upholds and restores principles of morality, discipline and Christian and ethical values that were always the norm in our traditional way of life in our communities.
“Teaching and imparting Christian values in early childhood learning about respect, care and tolerance for others is a great start so that our children will grow up with the right and proper attitude to respect one another regardless of gender, ethnicity and status.
“Additionally, a just, secure and safe society provides a conducive environment for business, trade and investment and builds investor confidence to complement government efforts to develop and grow the economy,” Sir Bob said.
